LettUs Grow® is a Bristol based startup designing hardware, software and services for indoor farms. Our mission is to reduce the waste and carbon footprint of fresh produce by enabling anyone to grow delicious food at or near its point of consumption.

At LettUs Grow®, our diverse team of engineers and horticulturists collaborate to design the next generation of technology for the indoor farming industry. Since its foundation in 2015, the company has been developing an industry-leading aeroponic system, with integrated control software, to increase crop yields, reduce farm operating costs and make farmers’ lives easier. We are now entering an exciting period of business growth, establishing larger scale trials in both greenhouses and vertical farms, before delivering sales to indoor farms around the UK and Europe.

Role Description:

As an Ultrasonic Engineer at LettUs Grow, you will work within our Engineering Team and report directly to our Chief Technical Officer. In your role, you will be responsible for technical R&D alongside development of specific areas of our hardware product.

You can expect to be delegated responsibility at an early stage and will have a real opportunity to progress as the company scales. This role is ideal for an innovative, collaborative applicant who is keen to grow with an impact-led startup.

Your responsibilities:

  • Implement solutions to a wide variety of technical challenges

  • Develop transducer hardware subsystems. Moving through:

    • Concept design

    • Prototype

    • Test

    • Detailed design

  • Work with external consultancies for manufacture where required

  • Facilitate R&D into aerosol interaction with plant roots

  • Work with/on other design projects as required

What you need:

Transducer design

  • Experience in acoustics, electronics or signal processing

  • Experience tuning acoustic transducer systems

  • Experience in piezoelectric amplifier or loudspeaker design an advantage

  • An understanding of transducers, such as piezoelectric transducers

  • Knowledge of programming and scientific computing in python, MATlab, etc

  • Experience with finite element modelling, such as with COMSOL

  • Relevant Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent degree

Scientific experience

  • Proven ability to design and conduct experiments, rigorously collect results and undertake error analysis

  • To be comfortable and competent working in a team with dependencies and deadlines as well as independently driving your own investigations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain concepts to people from other fields

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams

The position is full time in central Bristol and will benefit from training and external mentoring. Salary will be competitive to match experience, with the benefit of employee share options scheme.
