Last week, we attended Greentech, the horticultural event that brings together industry experts and innovators to connect, network, share knowledge and do business.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at LettUs Grow. So, when it came to organising transportation to Amsterdam for Greentech, some of our most avid cyclists put their heads together to plan making the journey on two wheels.

Oscar Davidson, James Perry, Simon Bellamy & Dan Peel set off on their bikes from London, took the ferry overseas and then cycled from Hook of Holland to Amsterdam, also making a stop in Rotterdam en route.

“It's all about asking ourselves, what can we do to make a difference? Sometimes flying internationally is necessary, and alternative methods of transport such as cycling aren't always accessible or possible for everyone. But for us, and on this occasion, it was a great way of trying to keep our carbon footprint down - plus it was great fun! We'll definitely be doing it again next year, and we hope we can encourage more people to come along for the ride," said Oscar Davidson, Business Development Specialist & organiser of the cycle trip.

Online calculators suggest that one flight from London to Amsterdam could generate between 99-130kg CO2 per person. So, the team managed to save up to 520kg CO2 from entering the atmosphere. That’s the equivalent of charging 63,254 smartphones!

The rest of the team took the Eurostar or bundled into the LettUs Grow van, which we used to transport our demo AeroStack to the event. Whilst there, we enjoyed chatting to people at our exhibition stand, showing off the farm with a VR headset and engaging in panel discussions.

“Greentech this year has been a really exciting opportunity for us to go and speak to people in person about everything we’ve been doing the past couple of years, such as our DROP & GROW container farm deliveries or launching our Aeroponic Rolling Benches, said Jack Farmer, Chief Scientific Officer & co-founder. “Business is all about people and relationships, so it’s been a great way to network and meet all the other people who are making exciting developments in the industry.”
